The reason is simple: for every tree we harvest, another is planted in its stead. |
We remain convinced that forest productivity must meet present and futur needs, all within the cycles of natural growth. This means that if a tree takes 50 years to mature, only 1/50th of the plantation will be harvested yearly and that the same land mass must be re-populated. |
This is how it works in every plantation of ours.
As an example, over the last few years in our Hungarian operation, we have planted 135.000 trees over 500 hectares that had reached an apex of maturity.i
In our Italian plantataions, 8000 new trees are planted every year in order to sustain the natural cycle. |
